Lot 49-2 Yokanga
The middle Yokanga river has produced more fly caught fish over 30lbs that most of the other rivers on the Kola Peninsula put together. This is the holding water where the great majority of salmon are headed for the summer months and into autumn when they spawn.
The river is never very deep, so fish are always accessible on the fly, and a combination of lies requiring challenging casts, and others within easy reach make for intriguing and varied sport. With classic ‘big salmon’ fly water – wide slow oily sections that narrow into ever faster draws before tipping into rapids and spilling again into wider slower sections. Any cast could result in the battle, and indeed fish, of a lifetime!
Accomodation is at the wonderful Yokanga Lodge, set high on a bluff overlooking several miles of the river. The rooms are comfortable, each with its own ensuite bathroom. More information on the great Yokanga: www.yokanga.com
